Parking Information
Parking Information
Parking can be a cause of stress on sites like this if the signs that have been in place for many years are disregarded. We all have designated parking whether it's in numbered spaces, garages or both. We all use our own designated parking spaces and we recognise that our neighbours do the same.
Designated Spaces
The problems occur when visitors or workmen use a numbered space just because it's empty.
It should be obvious that if you allow a visitor or a workman to park in someone else's space just because it is empty, it is no different to you parking in someone else's space in so far as you would have deprived them of what is theirs. Numbered spaces which are empty because the apartment is unoccupied or the resident does not have a car are no exception to this.
Visitor Parking
It is our responsibility (each and every one of us) to make sure that our visitors and workmen, including health care support workers, nurses and carers park in the upper car park in an un-numbered spaces without a ground-plate or on the tarmac visitor parking area at the front of the building.
If you are expecting visitors or workmen, tell them where they should park or simply ask them to follow the signs. If they arrive unexpectedly, ask them where they have parked and tell them to move if necessary. Alternatively, you may move your own car to an unnumbered space and allow your visitor or workman to park in your space.
Multiple Vehicles
Vehicles not specifically belonging to or being regularly used by residents may not be kept on this site. If your household has more vehicles than allocated spaces then the extra vehicles are to be parked on the red brick area in the upper car park in an un-numbered space without a ground-plate. The tarmac area at the front of the building is specifically for visitor parking.
Delivery Vehicles
Drop-off delivery vehicles (Amazon, food delivery etc) and taxis which are only expected to be on site for a matter of minutes can and will park wherever they feel best able to do so at the time. Some drivers are more considerate than others and those who visit regularly may learn better habits. This is something we all just have to live with.
Loading and Unloading
If a visitor or workman needs to load or unload heavy items while attending your apartment, they may park at your stairwell door for only as long as is necessary to move the items in or out of the building. The vehicle may not stay parked there while they are in your apartment.
Garage Parking
Residents with a garage should not use the space outside their garage door as a parking space or allow their visitors or workmen to do so. Parking in front of garages should be considered as per loading and unloading described above.
Disabled Parking
There are only four disabled spaces in the courtyard and they are for the exclusive use of people who have and display a blue badge. Just because they are empty does not mean they are available to be used by visitors or workmen – unless they have and display a blue badge.
Emergency and Essential Services
Any vehicle from the emergency or essential services including Ambulance Passenger Transport, Paramedics/First responders, Doctor-on-call as well as the regular Royal Mail postal delivery vehicles are legitimate exceptions to all of the above.
